Excellent service and comfort
The Kempinski was a wonderful hotel with large clean rooms, great location close to the Metro and excellent service. It also has a large pool area and gymnasium and a delicious buffet breakfast for all nationalities.

Good hotel, poor service!
Good location, the hotel was updated and nice. the only thing was the service. staff at front desk was OK, but once out of the front desk, staff is not very helpful. Door people won't even offer a help to grab a cab!!! the reason was "I am the only one here and can't leave to grab a taxi for you". What a joke! never had this kind of experience/service in hotels at this scale.

Very dispointed, dirty room/bad food/awful service
This is a hotel with smoking rooms (most floors are smoking floor). There is no such info on hotel.com website. We got the hotel after mid night, the check-in was very slow. Then when we got to the room, we found that it is a smoking room. We had to go down to line up again for a none smoking room. It was after 2am after we finally got into the room. I was very tired and wanted to make a tea and found out that they forgot to provide tea bags and instant coffee. The room carpet is very dirty and has not been steam cleaned for a long time. Dust on the furniture surface. I sunk in when I sat on the sofa. We booked with breakfast. The food was awful. I never had such bad western food before. And the Chinese food is also below average. There is a counter to take order to cook noodle/wonton/dumpling for customers. Two male staffs work there both have very bad attitude, very rude and forgot about the order. The local area has no shopping, no ok restaurant. We booked the hotel because we thought it will have the standard of Kempinski. But it is only a 3 star hotel.

Nice hotel near shopping area
This was a nice hotel to stay in. The room was comfy and the price was good. A couple of the employees spoke some English, but it was better than other places that I stayed at.

Good location to the pandas
Good hotel in a good location for going to see the pandas - only 30 minutes by car. Loved that the room has a Phillips docking station to charge your phone. The shower is fabulous with all the different jet sprays. Only negative is that the staff makes quite a lot of noise in the corridors when cleaning and chat loudly to each other very early in the mornings.

Ideally located near Airport with taxi ride of about 20 minutes as traffic is terrible in Chengdu. From the Hotel it-s about a 7 min walk to the next Metro station which brings you to the city center. There are also plenty of taxis available around the Hotel. Hotel itself is rather old for a Kempinski standard but ok

More than what I really expected. Felt very well welcomed and was attended very fast. Room was comfortable and has all the amenities I expected. I really enjoyed the Internet setup with Ethernet cable and plugs that seemed to be like for every country. Great for me.

Clean as a Whistle!
The Kempinski Hotel In Chengdu is clean, the staff are friendly, and I would recommend it to anyone staying in the city. The city itself is also very clean, people sweep and wash the streets. Make sure you visit the panda breeding station it is a must see and a cab will get you there in a half hour or so. If I ever go back to Chengdu, I will stay here again. I have no complaints at all. It is a very nice hotel. The pool is nice too.

An overnight stay this time. Convenient stay on the way to the airport as the airport expressway very close as well as coming to Chengdu from the South (Leshan). Avoiding the downtown traffic jam!

very good for business
The room was on a non-smoking floor, but my room smelt of smoke. I did not complain to the management. I was traveling with another person and they also said their room smelled of smoke. Most the customers were Chinese and I guess they just don't follow these rules any more than they follow common driving rules, like waiting your turn.

Does What It Says on the Tin
Very nice hotel and experience. Not as nice as a a Kempinski in the middle east I've been too, but still very comfortable and affordable. I was looking for a place to work for about 24 hours, locked myself in a room there and found the wifi and room service food to be relatively very good for China standards.
