Okay
It's okay for a quick stop over, especially if you plan to be out and about for the whole day and only plan on sleeping. The smell of damp does get a bit nauseating at times. On the plus side, the bund and a lot of other attractions are a short walk away.

Ok to stay a night
I chose the cheapest room which does not have window so it was quite suffocated. The facilities are old but still okay. Very close to Nanjing Road and quiet all day. Staffs are helpful with my luggages though they can not speak English.

Jinjiang Inn is just basic accomodations, but it is very convenient to Nanjing Road and to the subway. The property has wifi, but the security protocol used for connecting is so out of date that modern Linux, or Windows version 10 refused to connect to it.

Poorly maintained - One of the Worst JinJiang Inn
The conditions of the hotel and amenities are quite rundown and lightings are very dim even with the window opened. For work especially drawing with notebook computer, it's very stressful to the eyes and for fine lines are hardly visible on screen. Floor though seems clean but stained deeply with dirt, a simple wipe with a wet tissue is sufficient to tell the dirt being built upon and is sticky when walking barefoot within the room.

Excellent location in the center
The hotel is perfect one. I have stayed for 3 days. Very close to the center, a lot of shops and restaurants around. Metro station East Nanjing Road or Peoples' Square near up to 10 min in walking. Simply room, if you go to see Shanghai as a city and not to stay at room all the day, the best choice for value of money. Daily cleaning room service. Internet connection was without problem as well. Reception works 24 hours. Limited English speaking reception, anyway with mobile translator you can solve also complicated questions ;o). Please check the map of the hotel carefully, it is on the corner Niuzhuang Road and Fujian Middle Road.

Bad...even by Chinese standards
The hotel is a short enough walk away from Nanjing Lu, but the neighbourhood itself is filthy and chaotic...even by Chinese standards. The walls are paper thin, it's freezing cold in the room (the AC/heater fan thingie is weak), the tv's didn't work, and the showers leaked water all over the bathroom floor. The room was only clean to the most minimum of (Chinese) standards and smelled of paint and cigarette smoke. If you're a backpacker and only need one night in SH, it's not the worst place to be...otherwise if you're a family and/or you're staying for several days, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else that's 20 kuai extra per night. It's worth the extra money.

Hotel for Backpackers
Location was great especially when you already got familiarized. Walking distance to Nanjing shopping center, the Bund and to other nearby attraction sights. Nearest subway is East Nanjing station and not the People Square as what other post said. Hotel is situated along Niu Zhuang Road very near (only few steps away) to Niu Zhuang-Middle Fujian intersection. Do not get confused on the hotel name outside. Room is very basic with simple facilities and complimentary items provided. Wall is too thin that you can hear outside noise.

Good location, budget hotel
A good budget hotel just 5 minutes away from People's Square Metro in Shanghai. In need of renovation, showing a fair bit of wear and tear but fine for a few nights.

Staff that are out to destroy you
There was a deliberate attempt by the lady staff at night shift to sabotage our stay. She refuses to help us saying that - " she cannot understand english". A big fight occurred when the air condition was not working inside the room. No water was provided for drinking purposes. Bed sheets were also not changed

Simple and functional hotel
Basic hotel close to Nanjin road and Peoples Park, both were within walking distance. The staff were friendly, room was clean and the bed comfortable. The road itself was mainly hardware stores, but around a 10 minute walk to Nanjing road and peoples square underground stations.

Must be one of the hardest hotels in all Shanghai to find (took us three hours and our son 2 1/2 hours and he speaks Mandarin) but finally got there. Certainly in the middle of the hardware district, quite smelly, dirty and noisy, and now re-named Golden Met and opposite a local elementary school (with guards in the morning!!!). Original room on fourth floor, quite dirty and mouldy but second choice room even noisier (road noise) but in much better condition. However the one good part of the hotel is how close it is to People's Square and the fantastic roadside food shops, only 10 minutes or less away. If taking a taxi get the hotel name and address written in characters - much easier.

Noisy rooms
This hotel was close enough to nanjing rd as advertised. I didn't have to pay a deposit either. The elevator is on it's last life and the wifi was weird. Bad wifi is normal in china I guess with all the government taps and restrictions. The room was small but again normal for the price. The hotel had an old dirty feel and in bad shape. I came back to the room one night and a pice of the wall had fell off. The staff English is bad as well. This room got the job done but I stayed in cheaper for better in this city. The location makes up for it though.

Walking distance to everything.
For the money, I couldn't be happier. It was clean, comfortable and within walking distance of the Bund, shopping, and anything else I wanted to see. Walking distance for me, though, is more than most people. If you're a little older, or walking a full km isn't your idea of walking distance, then this isn't the place for you. It's in a residential neighborhood, so expect to be surrounded by the Chinese equivalent of hardware stores & teas shops. You have to venture out for the tourist stuff. The name of the hotel is different, though. You want to search for the Chenlong business hotel.

Hotel that has a wrong name
At first there were different hotel name as the website says. In the same place was a hotel called Holiday Inn. The hotel is located in the back alley of the Bund. Near the touristic shopping streets. The location wants you to hold your purse tight. Hotel room in clean and everything works. Own wifi and internet plug were surprising for me.

Satisfactory
First of all, the hotel name is not Chen Long Business Hotel, its actually Goldenmet Inn Jinjiang hotel. Lucky for google maps! The hotel is conveniently located near Nanjing East Rd metro station, only a short 10 min walk away. The hotel is also walking distance from The Bund, Nanjing Road shopping street. The hotel provides basic necessities and is definitely worth the price that you pay. Only downside for me is the noise of housekeeping staff talking loudly early in the morning and from the streets below. Overall, i would recommend this hotel for those travelers looking for a budget and convenient stay in Shanghai.

very noisy... most rooms face the street and there is very little insulation so it is noisy all night long. Also, there was a hotel party in the room next to mine. However, when I complained, they front desk put a stop to the party immediately.

Cheap stay near the bund
Not for the luxurious or those looking for a big hotel, but great for a one night stay for college kids or travelers. We didn't spend much time in the room because it was one block from Nanjing Street. Overall it was a good stay because of the price.

Cheap
Cheap, but in china you can get better hotels for the same price in the same area. The streets around the hotel were disgusting. TOO NOISY AND SMELL LIKE CIGARETTE IN THE WHOLE HOTEL EVEN IN THE ROOMS. But, you get what you pay for...not much!

Old but clean hotel
For this price, this hotel is deserved for recommendation. The room is old but the cleaning is awfully good. The con is the acoustic insulation is very poor, I can hear the conversation next room clearly. The TV is not a 25" Flat TV as the description. The location of the hotel in the map is wrong, recommend you guy to find the location at 百度地圖.

For this price this location, deffinitely yes. The nanjing road shopping street is just behind the corner. The hotel is a it old and creepy, and could use a renovation. But the rooms are very clean even though the hotel is not so new, which is awfully rare for this price of rooms. The air-conditioning did not work properly, but I was too tired to do anything about it. The room was still warm though. Usually with this price (as a single traveler) you only get access to a dorms, so this was very nice change. The only negative thing to say is that the wifi did not work, and internet through the ethernet cabel wasn't so fast either.

Hotel was all in all good the location was really good, close to Nanjing Lu, sightseeing and shopping. The hotel is nothing fancy tho but on the other hand who wants to spend a holiday in the hotelroom when you're in shanghai?
