Nice apartment - Not a guesthouse
Rather than a guesthouse, this was a self-contained studio apartment. It was well-equipped. Great views and a small terrace and patio area. Housekeeping came once during the week. The owner met us off the ferry and took us to the apartment, we would never have found it otherwise. He did not come back to check if everything was ok, which would have been nice. Hydra is built on a hillside and to reach the apartment you had to climb many steps. It would not be suitable for anyone who is not fit and able. We managed it twice a day and we are in our 60s.

Pleasant Stay
The apartment is comfortable and has an amazing view of the mountains and the town. For folks who have accessibility issues or are very tall: it is up a lot of stairs and has relatively low ceilings. Petros was super communicative and helpful (when our ferry to Hydra got cancelled, he got in touch to warn us and helped us find alternative travel plans). Overall, a good stay!

The apartment we rented was a nice remodel of an old house. It has a great balcony facing the town. Unit was spacious, clean and had lots amenities. The only thing I didn't like much was the small bathroom but everything else was good. The hosts are very friendly and help you with any questions regarding Hydra. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Hydra.

The place to experience the ambience of Hydra
The location is amazing: you have a view of the entire town and surrounding hills. You can simply sit on your terrace and enjoy the sun from the morning till the evening, and have a beautiful sunset. It takes some 5-7 min to reach the harbour from the apartment. The apartment is located in a beautiful stone house. If you want your bags to be taken to the apartment from the ferry, you can pay extra and get some donkey to do that. Petros who was our contact person was amazing: friendly, helpful and always proactive. As there was a storm and we could reach the island only a day later, he offered us to stay one extra night for free!! He also allowed us to check out later and stored our bags in his shop, until the ferry arrived. In the apartment, you have everything one needs for long term or short term stay: the fridge, the cooker and all the necessary kitchen equipment; also the huge TV with Netflix, comfy bed, very great bathroom with the washing machine, hiking maps, etc. It was an amazing experience and we definitely want to come back and stay there again.

I have traveled to 22 countries in my life and I have stayed in properties of all types and ofcourse there have been surprises but this by far was the worst experience of all. This property is not a hotel. Its more like a B&B (without the breakfast) and unfortunately not a good one. It is owned by one person (Petros) who is a liar and a cheat who runs a organized scam. Don’t expect any decency from this man and definitely don’t expect any service from any of his 2 properties (Porta del mare delux suites) 1. He listed free airport shuttle 24 hours a day but refused to pay for it and when he asked him why he offered it, he changed the listing and said he never offered it. 2. The listing never suggested that the property is near the top of the mountain and you would have to climb 150 steps with all your luggage. If you want any help with this, you would have to pay for it. 3. The property has no address (which is not unusual for hydra since its a small town) however he should have atleast told us how to find it on a map!! He left us with no information on how to get back to the property and we were stuck in cold and rain. 4. Then the door wouldn’t open. The construction quality is so bad that after you unlock the door, you have to push it really hard to get it to open push and if my husband wasn’t there we would be stuck there standing in the rain 5. The ad said there is a fitness center. There is no fitness center on the property Don't stay here.
