Sunset Birdwatching Boat Tour on Lake Tisza
Discover the wildlife of Lake Tisza on a peaceful sunset motorboat tour through one of Central Europe’s most unique wetland landscapes.
Departing from Albatrosz Kikötő, this small-group experience takes you deep into protected bird sanctuary areas that can only be reached by water. As the evening light softens and the lake becomes quieter, you’ll explore hidden channels, reed beds, and small islands where wildlife thrives.
Tours take place every Saturday at 17:00 and last approximately 3 hours, perfectly timed to enjoy the calm atmosphere and beautiful sunset light over the lake.
Explore a Unique Natural Habitat
Officially known as the Kisköre Reservoir, Lake Tisza is the second largest body of water in Hungary. When the reservoir was created, a network of shallow waters, reed beds, and islands formed naturally. Over time this landscape developed into one of the country’s richest wildlife habitats.
Today the lake is home to more than 200 species of birds and is an important resting place for migratory birds travelling across Europe.
Birdwatching in a Protected Sanctuary
During the tour, your guide will take you to parts of the lake that are normally inaccessible from land. These quiet areas provide ideal conditions for observing wildlife in its natural environment.
Travelling in a low-powered and quiet motorboat, you can approach the birds without disturbing them. Binoculars are provided, allowing you to observe nesting birds and wildlife hidden in the reeds.
Depending on the season and a bit of luck, you may spot:
-wading birds feeding in the shallow waters
-birds of prey flying above the marshes
-colourful songbirds in the reed beds
-migrating bird species resting on the islands
-and occasionally even beavers along the waterways
Relaxed Small-Group Experience
This tour is designed to be comfortable and accessible for everyone. Unlike canoe tours, there is no paddling required, allowing you to fully enjoy the scenery and focus on observing nature.
With a maximum of 5 participants, the small group ensures a quiet and intimate experience, perfect for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts.
Snacks and drinking water are included so you can simply relax and enjoy the beauty of the lake as the sun sets.
