What you can expect

Epic landscapes, legendary castles, and a journey on the world-famous Jacobite Steam Train, aka Hogwarts Express! This Highland adventure is one for the books. Explore Skye, search for Nessie, and uncover Scotland’s wild beauty on this unforgettable three-day tour.

DAY 1:
Our journey begins with a glimpse of Stirling Castle, perched dramatically on its volcanic rock. After a stop in the charming Highland village of Callander, we travel through the vast wilderness of Rannoch Moor before reaching the breathtaking Glen Coe, where towering peaks and a dark history await. In Fort William, we board the famous Jacobite Steam Train for a magical two-hour journey through rugged Highland scenery. As we cross the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, you’ll see why this is hailed as one of the world’s greatest rail journeys. By afternoon, we board a ferry to the legendary Isle of Skye, home to ancient myths, dramatic landscapes, and rich Gaelic heritage. Our base for the next two nights is Portree, a colourful harbour town where you’ll have free time to explore in the evening.

DAY 2:
Today is all about Skye’s legendary landscapes and folklore. Against the dramatic backdrop of the Cuillin Mountains, hear tales of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s daring escape. Marvel at the otherworldly Old Man of Storr, the cascading beauty of Kilt Rock, and the rugged coastline steeped in myth. In the afternoon, you have the option to visit Dunvegan Castle, the ancestral home of Clan MacLeod for over 800 years. A day of spectacular scenery and fascinating history ends back in Portree, where you can soak up the island’s charm.

DAY 3:
We leave Skye via the Skye Bridge, making our first stop at the romantic Eilean Donan Castle, a true Highland icon. Continuing east, we visit the Dundreggan Rewilding Centre, where the charity Trees for Life works to restore Scotland’s ancient pine forests. Next, we reach Loch Ness where it's time for some monster spotting in Fort Augustus! As we journey south, we stop at the Commando Memorial, offering stunning views of Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain. Our final Highland stop is the riverside village of Dunkeld, home to a beautiful medieval cathedral. As we return to Edinburgh, we take in the spectacular Forth Rail Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before arriving back in the capital in the early evening.

*Summer only. In April and October the route goes in reverse with train and ferry ride on day 3.
