Explore Northern Thailand on a four-day excursion to Mae Hong Son, home to a collection of untouched ethnic villages and traditional lifestyles. Discover multiple tribal communities and wildlife reserves in Pai, ancient temples and wats in the outskirts of Chiang Mai and the well-known Karen village, famous for tribal women’s custom of wearing heavy copper coils around their necks.

Day 1: Chiang Mai – Pai (L)

Pick up in Chiang Mai and transfer to Pai. En-route, stop to visit market Mae Malai and hotsprings Pong Deuid.

Upon arrival, visit the isolated village of Pai, and three other villages of the local ethnic groups: Ban Bang Paek (Lisu tribe; Ban Mae Ping (Karen tribe) and eventually Ban Jabo & Ban Payang (Lahu tribe). Overnight in Pai.

Day 2: Pai – Mae Hong Son (B/L)

Morning transfer to Mae Hong Son. Stop at Baan Phang Paek and continue towards Ban Tham Lod, and visit the caves of Tham Lod by bamboo raft. Cruise on the inland lake; discover its calcareous concretions and its prehistoric coffins. Then visit three temples near lake Jong Kham, Wat Chong Kham, Wat Chong Klan, Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu. Overnight in Mae Hong Son.

Day 3: Mae Hong Son (B/L)

Morning take a boat for sightseeing along the Pai River and drop in to visit Long-Necked Karen village, the women in this tribal village wear their one brass winding rings on their neck. Continue to visit the Su Tong Pae Bridge, Baan Rak Thai Village, Shan village “Baan Ruam Thai”. Overnight in Mae Hong Son.

Day 4: Mae Hong Son – Doi Inthanon – Chiang Mai (B/L)

Morning visit Doi Inthanon national park (Thailand’s highest mountain of over 2,565 metres), the beautiful architecture of Royal Pagodas Napamaytanidol and Phra Mahatat Napaphon Bhumisiri. Continue to visit hill tribe market and Vachiratharn Waterfalls. Arrive in Chiang Mai transfer to the hotel or airport, end of services.
