We discover Münster in the best possible way: between Gothic sculptures and contemporary works, from inconspicuous details to bold statements – multifaceted, impressive and unmistakable.

What to expect
We bring art, history and the present into dialogue. You will discover hidden details and world-class works, meet local and international artists – and experience how closely art and city life are intertwined in Münster.

Between icons and everyday art
We span the spectrum from statues of saints to urban contemporary art. This includes art high up on church spires, on façades or in the ground, over which thousands of bicycles roll every day. A special highlight is Gerhard Richter's installation “Two Grey Double Mirrors for a Pendulum” in the Dominican Church.

Sculpture Projects Münster
The art format that has been turning Münster upside down since 1977. Every ten years, artists from all over the world transform the city into an open-air museum – and many of their works remain in Münster. A must-see on our tour!

Background – Knowledge – Controversies
Art in Münster reflects the city's history, lays bare its wounds, sparks debate – and sometimes causes people to shake their heads. We will not only look at the works themselves, but also at how they came into being, the artists behind them, and their after-effects.
