What you can expect

Step beyond the high streets and discover the Ballarat most visitors never see.

This guided walking tour brings the city’s Gold Rush history to life through the places where it actually happened - from grand Victorian buildings to tucked-away lanes and overlooked corners filled with stories.

A relaxed 2–2.5 hour walk (approx. 1.5km) suitable for couples, solo travellers and small groups. Easy walking pace with regular stops.

Your guide leads the experience in period Victorian attire, blending storytelling, humour and historical detail to bring Ballarat’s past vividly to life.

You’ll also take home a small, locally designed Ballarat art print - a unique memento of the experience.

On this tour you will:

• Step inside historic spaces not usually open to visitors
• Hear Gold Rush stories told exactly where they happened
• Visit the site of the Eureka Stockade speech
• Explore hidden laneways, grand streetscapes and local corners
• Discover quirky shops, cafes and street art along the way

“Such a great way to get to know Ballarat as a new arrival!” – Peter
“Juicy facts, lots of laughs, and we all left feeling entertained.” – Melissa

• Entry to selected historic buildings and upper-level spaces
• A hot drink at one of Ballarat’s oldest hotels
• A small locally designed Ballarat art print
• A guided storytelling experience led by a local guide in period Victorian attire
