Noboribetsu
It is a relic of a crater in Noboribetsu City of Hokkaido and adjacent to Lake Touyako It was formed about 10,000 years ago. There is still a place with a diameter of about 450 metres. Jigokudani is so named because it is like being in hell. (Departure every season including winter)
Oyunuma Pond is the remains of a burst crater formed by the eruption of Mt. Hiwa. The bottom of the pond spews a sulphur spring of about 130 degrees. It is the source of hot spring water for major hot spring hotels in Noboribetsu. There is an observation deck here, you can see the steaming lake in front of you and walk to the lake to feel it up close. Walking around the lake, in addition to smelling the smell of sulphur, you can also see the source of hot springs that are smoking and foaming at any time, especially the yellow spherical sulphur floating on the lake is particularly conspicuous. This scenic spot is closed due to road reasons in winter
Outdoor foot bath experience It is necessary to walk a long mountain road, and the road is still relatively primitive, it must be to protect the original ecology, but the scenery is worthwhile. The actual scenery is much more beautiful than the photos. This scenic spot is closed due to road reasons in winter

-Showa Shinzan Bear Ranch: On December 28, Showa 18 (1943), a strong earthquake occurred near Mount Usu on the shore of Lake Touyako. The result was a volcanic eruption that caused the ground to rise rapidly to form a high mountain. The volcanic activity lasted until September 10, the 20th year of the Showa era (1945). There were 17 more active volcanic activities during the two-year period. To commemorate this phenomenon of volcanic activity, the new volcanic mountain with an elevation of 398 metres was designated as a special natural monument in 1957 and named Showa Shinzan. It is still a growing ““new mountain”“, and white smoke can be seen constantly erupting from the reddish-brown mountains.
