What you can expect

If you want to get the most out of and learn about the Arouca Geopark territory at your own pace, then Guided Tours are the option for you!
At an altitude of over 1000 metres and with a vast landscape overlooking the North and Centre of the country, lies the plateau of the iconic Serra da Freita.
Take a walking tour, learning about the main points of geological interest (geosites) in the area.
Examples include lithological contacts, fold fields, boulder scree, the internationally renowned “pedras parideiras” (birthing stones), and the largest waterfall on mainland Portugal, the Frecha da Mizarela.
Immerse yourself in the countryside by passing through mountain villages, such as the Village of Cabaços or the Village of Castanheira: traditional villages that shape this mountain and where you will certainly be warmly welcomed.
Catch a glimpse of native animal and plant species in different ecosystems such as peat bogs and lakes, in a place where fauna and flora coexist harmoniously.
And, if you still need more reasons, visit one of the most interesting historical and archaeological sites (archaeological sites) in the area, the Neolithic Portela da Anta.
