Enjoy nature in a safe environment full of flora and fauna
The Benito Juárez National Park is located on forest land in the municipalities of Oaxaca de Juárez, San Andrés Huayapam, and Tlalixtac de Cabrera, which are part of the conurbation of the city of Oaxaca. It has 2,591 hectares that protect tropical deciduous forest, oak and pine ecosystems, which are the habitat of a wide variety of wild species.
The trails are marked, there are park rangers, and it's a safe and fun way to go trekking near the city without having to spend the whole day.
Depending on the time of year, it can be very lush and full of green plants and beautiful flowers (June–December), full of autumn colours, and very dry during the months of December to May.
The biodiversity of this area provides environmental services that promote air purification, hydrological and climatic regulation, and the buffering of extreme events. Likewise, with its streams and springs, it favours the availability of water to supply a large part of the city of Oaxaca and its conurbated municipalities.
