What you can expect

  • Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Karakol or a central meeting point. Hop into a 4x4 vehicle and drive to Jeti-Oguz Gorge. The drive takes about 40 minutes on a mixed road of asphalt and gravel.

Upon arrival, get dropped off near the main parking area. From there, see the Seven Bulls red rock cliff and the Broken Heart Rock right away. Take photos on your own.

If you want to walk to Maiden’s Tears Waterfall, the trail starts near the parking area. It takes about 45 minutes each way on a dirt path through juniper forest. The driver does not walk with you — you go on your own.

After the waterfall, walk to nearby yurt camps. Local families sell kumys (fermented mare’s milk), yoghurt, and sometimes show felt making. Prices are set locally — pay directly.

Around 3:00 PM, meet the driver back at the parking area. Drive back to Karakol, arriving at approximately 6:00 PM. Drop‑off is at your hotel or the city centre meeting point.
