Depart from the characteristic village of Monolithos before descending into a little red sand bay located between tall cliffs. This wild bay, accessible only by foot, will stun you with its natural beauty.
Crystal-clear waters and a sea breeze make this the ideal spot for a brief stop before climbing up to the castle, which is situated on a rock that emerges from the green valley.
Monolithos Castle, built on the 236m high monolith that gives it its name, has never been conquered. All that remains today is a portion of the outer fortifications and two 15th-century chapels with views of Akramitis Mountain, Halki Island, and the vast Aegean Sea.
