Wreck Dive in Playa del Carmen – Explore a Sunken Ship and Its Marine Life

Meet at the dive centre for a detailed briefing before boarding the boat to one of Playa del Carmen’s most thrilling dive sites: the Mama Viña shipwreck. This former shrimp boat was intentionally sunk in the 90s, creating an impressive artificial reef, now home to schools of fish, barracudas, rays, and occasionally, nurse sharks.

Descend to 30 metres (98 feet) and explore the wreck, now covered in corals and colourful sponges. Swim through its structures and witness how marine life has transformed this sunken vessel into a vibrant underwater ecosystem.

After a surface interval with water, snacks, and fresh fruit, continue with a second dive on a shallow reef, where turtles, moray eels, and tropical fish complete this unforgettable adventure.
