What you can expect

The Clam-Gallas Palace is one of the best-preserved Baroque palaces in the world. It was built between 1713 and 1718 according to the design of Johann Bernard Fischer from Erlach. It was decorated by Carlo Carlone and the workshop of Matyáš Bernard Braun.

Walk through the representative premises of the palace at your own pace. For those interested in deeper knowledge, the audio guide offers even more extensive texts. You can easily download the audio guide to your smartphone right in the palace. If you don't have it, we will be happy to lend it to you on the spot. Headphones can also be rented on-site.

Visit the piano nobile (noble floor) in the west wing and the conservatory in the north wing. The sightseeing route offers the opportunity to appreciate the uniquely preserved structure of the palace with its remarkable decoration, and at the same time to get to know the later modifications of the interiors for the comfortable life of the noble family.

Climb the majestic ceremonial staircase to the 2nd floor, from where you can admire not only how the builder Fischer from Erlach coped with the cramped old town buildings, but also the sculpture, stucco, and painting works of outstanding artists of the first third of the 18th century.

The tour of the piano nobile begins by entering the antecamera (anteroom), which was adapted for the needs of the palace theatre at the beginning of the 19th century. The adjacent Golden and Turquoise Halls will impress with many restored elements of the interior, whether they are tiled stoves, hanging lamps, or impressive fittings on the doors.

The Marble Hall amazes not only with its airiness and whiteness but also with the hidden charm of surprise, just like the adjacent Chinese Lounge.

At the end of the tour, you will also visit two rooms that were adapted to a winter garden in the first third of the 19th century. In fine weather, the tour ends in the courtyard, where you will be able to appreciate the vastness of this palace.
