What you can expect

  • The Prime Time Theatre is a must for anyone who's got a hankering for Berlin… whether they're a local or a tourist!

Famous for its stage sitcom “Gutes Wedding, Schlechtes Wedding” (GWSW), which has been running since 2004 and is unique worldwide, the iconic theatre offers a hilarious combination of quirky capital city charm and endearing area bluntness, and even guarantees laughs.

For almost a quarter of a century now, the theatre has been successfully staging the beautiful, the quirky and, above all, the funny aspects of the area, the rest of the city and even impressions of village life in Brandenburg… clichés included – but always presented with a whole lot of heart!

The result is culture for everyone, theatre you can touch – “IN-ECHT-FLIX,” as the team itself describes the atmosphere.

With each play, the audience is immersed in an ever-changing rollercoaster mix of skilful acting with plenty of local colour, affectionate parody, crazy comedy and punchy punchlines. In the “GWSW universe,” guests can either look forward to sitcom episodes (which, however, are always introduced with a “Previously on…” and thus offer an easy way to get into the show) or to comedies whose storylines take place independently of the series. In any case, you will encounter the typical and popular characters and can laugh at them—and gladly with them, too.

The Prime Time Theatre is particularly popular for its living room feel. Drinks and snacks from the cosy “RAZ Café” in the foyer can be taken into the auditorium in the good old cinema style and enjoyed there, whether sipping or munching: from ice cream to nachos and popcorn to delicious tarte flambée.

The high level of authenticity and approachability also contribute to a cosy feeling. The entire cast is happy to chat with guests in person (sometimes even during the shows). Right from the start, fans can look forward to being greeted by Artistic Director Oliver Tautorat, who already creates a great atmosphere here. “Wen oder wat freu' ick?” (“Who or what am I happy to see?“) he then calls out, thereby directly teaching newcomers an important grammatical lesson in Berlin dialect. The answer must, of course, be given in the Berlin accusative case. “MIR!!!!” comes the enthusiastic reply in unison.
