What you can expect

It all starts with your booking. Once you've booked, we'll get in touch to confirm your pick-up. We'll pick you up from your (central) hotel and head to the port of Puno, where we'll board a tourist motorboat. If you're lucky, two local musicians will board the boat, playing songs in the local language, i.e. live music (optional tips) like Pachamama, to get you in a good mood and very happy. Then we'll sail to our first point, the floating islands of the Uros, where local families greet us in their local language, “Aymara,” by saying Kamisaraki. We'll then disembark on the floating island, which is made from the reeds that grow in Lake Titicaca, the TOTORA. You'll see how the president of the island builds a model of how a floating island is constructed, and our guide will translate and explain it to you step by step.
Then you can visit the inside of the families' houses, and you'll have free time to take photos with the typical clothes of the Uros, take some local crafts (optional) or simply enjoy the tranquility.
Then, the families will invite you to ride in the Uros' Mercedes Benz, a catamaran-type raft made of Totora, so you can visit the Uros' Capital Island, where you can buy snacks, a coca tea, coffee, or go to the bathrooms, and then we'll head to our next destination.
We'll sail to the open part of Lake Titicaca to reach Taquile Island, a natural island with 5.5 square kilometres.
With unique features like.

  • The highest beach in the world.
  • Surreal landscapes.
  • A living culture.
    UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage (textiles).
When you get to the island of Taquile, you can choose to take a walk of about 30 minutes to the main square of Taquile, where local musicians play and dance in typical clothes. If you want, you can join in to take some videos and Instagram-worthy photos, and then have some free time to see if you want to buy some local crafts, such as hats or chullos made by the local community, and very fine textiles.
After this activity, you'll head to a local lunch spot, where you can try the fried trout, a very different seasoning from that of the Uros floating islands. During lunch, our guide will show you and explain the local costumes and customs of this ancient culture.
    Lunch's included.
Once this is over, you'll head down to the boat, and we'll return to the city of Puno.
To almost end this experience, we'll give you 3 options.
  • On the way back, you'll arrive at the Uros Floating Islands and do the tour again at a more leisurely pace, so you can see the sunset on the lake, finishing at approximately 6:00 p.m. and heading back to your hotel or the city centre.
  • You'll arrive in Puno, and we'll take you to the Puma Uta viewpoint to see the landscape.
  • You'll arrive at the port, and we'll take you back to your hotel or city centre.
