ABOUT THE FISHING

This is float fishing at a managed carp pond in central Tokyo. You fish
with a simple rod, line and bait — there are no lures, reels or casting.
Your guide baits the hook, shows you how to read the float, and helps you
land the fish.

The rods, lines and bait belong to the pond and are shared by everyone
fishing there. Lines can break on a strong bite. Your guide checks your
bait before you start, asks the staff to replace it if it is not in good
condition, and chooses a seat away from the poles where lines snag most
often. If anything is not usable during your session, tell your guide
straight away.

Most guests land at least one carp, but around one in five sessions ends
without a catch. All fishing is catch and release.

TIMING TIP

Tokyo summers are hot. Some of the fishing decks are shaded, but seats are first-come and not reserved — morning and late-afternoon starts are noticeably more comfortable than midday, and the carp are more active at both ends of the day.
