Activity itinerary

Moravian Museum of Bethlehem

  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
During the holiday season, the 1741 Gemeinhaus comes alive with beautiful Christmas trees decorated by the local Bethlehem Garden Club. Inside Bethlehem’s oldest building, you’ll learn about the storey of the Moravians who founded the city in the early 1740s as you go from room to room to see the trees. The Gemeinhaus is a National Historic Landmark and a cornerstone of the Moravian Church Settlements–Bethlehem World Heritage Site.

Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts

  • 45m
  • Admission ticket included
Spread across three connected mid-1800s homes, the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts traces three centuries of changing style and design through period rooms, galleries, and rotating exhibitions of furniture, paintings, china, clothing, and silver. It’s Pennsylvania’s only decorative arts museum and one of just 15 in the country devoted exclusively to the decorative arts. The museum grew from the bequest of collector Annie S. Kemerer, whose Pennsylvania German textiles, Bohemian glass, and 200-piece wedding china set are still highlights today. The museum’s newest exhibition, Art of the Dollhouse, looks at how miniature homes have shaped ideas about domestic life over three centuries.

Single Sisters' House

  • 15m
  • Admission ticket included
Built in 1744 for Bethlehem’s single men, the Single Sisters’ House became home to the community’s unmarried women just four years later, after the Single Brethren outgrew the space. Under one roof, the sisters slept, ate, worshipped, and worked, with dormitories, a chapel, a dining room, a kitchen, and rooms for handicrafts. Guests explore the 1744 and 1752 sections of the house to discover how Moravian women lived and supported themselves in 18th-century Bethlehem. The Trees of Historic Bethlehem exhibition in November and December is the only time of the year this historic gem is open to the public.
