What you can expect

  • Pick-up: Meet your private driver at Patmos cruise port to start your guided shore excursion in Patmos.

Monastery of St. John the Theologian: Our journey begins with a visit to the Monastery of St. John the Theologian, a magnificent structure resembling a Byzantine castle. Founded in 1088 by Ossios Christodoulos under the patronage of Byzantine Emperor Alexios I. Komnenos, this imposing monastery stands as a fortress on the island of Patmos. The monastery's walls, soaring over 15 metres high, define dimensions of 53 metres from north to south and 70 metres from east to west, creating an awe-inspiring presence. The Monastery of St. John the Theologian offers a journey into history and spirituality. As you explore its grounds, you'll witness the architectural marvels that have endured for centuries.

Cave of the Apocalypse: Our next destination is the Cave of the Apocalypse, a holy sanctuary where tradition holds that John the Evangelist received divine revelations and transcribed the Book of Revelation with his student Prohoros. This sacred text has garnered admiration from faithful Christians worldwide. As you step into the “Holy Cave,” you'll sense the profound spirituality that permeates this sacred space, making it a destination for worship and reflection.

Drop-off: After this enriching and memorable tour, we will return to the port.
