Built in a community effort from 1896-98, Gammelveien trail is ideal for experiencing the breathtaking midnight sun while delving into the rich history of Hammerfest with a local guide.
Wind your way up towards Salenfjellet, passing World War II history markers. The Arctic Ocean and surrounding islands will accompany you for a while before you turn to walk on the backside of Mount Salen.
Reach Salen viewpoint, where you’ll have a full view of Hammerfest from above. Then, descend on Hammerfest's famous zigzag path down to the city centre where at the foot of the path, you will see one of Hammerfest's famous landmarks: the blue music pavillon. There the tour will end.
