Leave the Christmas lights of Tallinn behind and step into a completely different kind of winter magic – the quiet forests of North Estonia.
Your experience begins at Aegviidu railway station, easily reached by train from Tallinn, just 50min. From there, your local host will meet you and take you on a short transfer deep into the countryside to Uuejärve, a traditional Estonian farmstead surrounded by protected Natura 2000 forests.
As daylight fades, the forest takes on a completely different character. Lanterns and small lights guide you through the darkness as you walk beneath the trees, listening to the sounds – and silence – of an Estonian winter evening.
The trail leads you to Small Lapland, where a very special welcome awaits: Siberian huskies and Alaskan malamutes. Meet the sleigh dogs, hear their stories, and discover what everyday life with these energetic northern dogs is really like. There will also be time to interact with the dogs and capture some memorable photos together.
Afterwards, continue through the lantern-lit forest to a cosy campfire. Settle around the flames, warm your hands with a hot drink, and enjoy a simple forest picnic with tea, marshmallows, and local cookies by the fire. Away from the city lights and crowds, this is a chance to slow down and experience the peaceful side of an Estonian winter.
This is not a large tourist attraction or a staged Christmas village. You are visiting a real countryside home, meeting the people and animals who live here, and experiencing winter as we do – surrounded by forest, firelight, and silence.
