Begin your walk at the Troodos Botanical Garden “A.G. Leventis”, a peaceful space built on land once shaped by asbestos extraction and now restored as a symbol of recovery. Follow the historic mining road towards the Troodos Geopark Visitor Centre, where you’ll uncover the geological, industrial, and environmental storey of chrysotile asbestos.

Along the way, experience Historical Photo‑Soundscape Interludes — short immersive moments combining archival photographs, reconstructed industrial sounds, and narrated micro‑stories. These interludes reveal how the mine once looked, sounded, and operated, enriching the transitions between stops and deepening your connection to the landscape.

Continue towards the vast open‑pit mine, where terraced slopes and exposed rock layers show the scale of extraction and the legacy of a community shaped by industry, decline, and ongoing ecological restoration. Your geologist guide will help you understand the geology beneath your feet, the human stories behind the mine, and the environmental challenges of restoring such a dramatic site.
