Welcome to Bamberg. We will meet at the “Centurione” statue and then walk together through the UNESCO World Heritage-designated Old Town. Our goal is to give you a good all-round view. All of us guides work exclusively on a tips basis and would be very pleased if you would reward our work at the end of the guided tour.
On the guided tour, we visit the architectural highlights such as Little Venice, the Old Town Hall, the Romanesque Cathedral, the Old Residence, and much more. In addition to the wonderful scenery, we would also like to introduce you to the cultural life in Bamberg. This is much more diverse than “just” being Franconia's beer capital, although we will of course also talk about that. Fishermen, basketball players, and students shape the image of the city as much as the good Franconian brewers. Of course, we will also discuss Bamberg's history. First mentioned in a document in 907 as “Castrum Babenberch,” the city developed under the bishops from 1007 into one of the most important cities in Franconia. Baroque splendour stands in contrast to the criminal persecution of “witches,” and not just figuratively.
