On this tour you will discover the traces of divided Berlin and experience the history first-hand. The tour starts at Friedrichstrasse station, one of the former border stations of the divided city. Here, travellers could go from one world to another simply by changing platforms.
Continue along the River Spree, which was also affected by the division. Tour boats were not allowed to cruise here and the view of the river was blocked. The area where the Bundestag and the government are now located was then shrouded in solitude.
The Berlin Wall Memorial is located near the Reichstag building. Here you can learn more about the people who risked their lives to reach West Berlin.
The Brandenburg Gate became a symbol of the divided city. Find out on which side it was located, what it symbolised for East and West, and how US president Reagan requested the East to knock down the wall.
At the end of the tour you will discover a piece of the Cold War – the remains of the Berlin Wall on Käthe-Niederkirchner-Straße in the city centre.
