Join us in a welcoming studio in the centre of Budapest and dive into the world of Kürtőskalács, one of Hungary’s most beloved sweet treats.
This workshop offers a delicious and interactive experience where you’ll roll, coat and bake your own traditional chimney cake from pre-prepared dough.
Your host will begin with an introduction to the history and traditions surrounding chimney cakes in Hungary. After a demonstration, you’ll take your pre-prepared dough, roll it into smooth strips, and wrap it around a wooden spindle—an essential technique for achieving the cake’s signature hollow shape.
Once shaped, your chimney cake will be brushed in sugar and placed in the rotating oven, where it caramelises to a perfect golden colour. When it’s ready, choose from tasty toppings like cinnamon sugar, vanilla, cocoa, or walnut.
Enjoy your warm Kürtőskalács straight from the oven or take it with you as a sweet souvenir of Budapest. At the end, you’ll receive a Certificate of Achievement to remember your workshop.
What to do in Budapest? Together with the major attractions like the Széchenyi Baths, the Hungarian parliament, Buda Castle, Gellért Baths, St Stephen’s Basilica and Szimpla Kert, our workshop is rated as one of the cities top experiences.
Whether you’re a food lover, family traveller, or simply curious about Hungarian desserts, this hands-on experience is guaranteed to be a highlight of your trip.
