We start the tour when our guide arrives for you at the lobby of your hotel, we will go to one of the living haciendas in Yucatan.
Hacienda Sotuta de Peón was built at the end of the 19th century in Tecoh, Yucatán. They literally travel in time, transported on wooden platforms called “truks” which are pulled by “mules” on Decauville rails, just as the workers originally used them. You will be able to witness each step of the henequen transformation process ( also called green gold in this region), from the plant to the fibre, and from the fibre to the finished product. You will also have the opportunity to see the ancient machinery that has been rescued from the ravages of time and rebuilt to its precise operational capacity, as well as touring a typical Mayan house.
We will visit Hacienda Mucuyché and cenotes where we will be able to enjoy the history of henequen, what the old ruins of the hacienda tell us. In that majestic hacienda we can enjoy its cenotes, one of them bears the name of Carlota; Here you can enjoy a semi-open cenote, and a passage that connects with the second cenote that is cavern-like where you can still see a lot of history at the bottom of this cenote.
Then we will delight ourselves with regional Yucatecan food at the Hacienda Mucuyché restaurant, to later have free time in its pool with natural salts and minerals, unique in Yucatan. Return to Merida.
