Leave Yogyakarta behind and journey east across Java, discovering some of the island’s most dramatic natural landscapes before continuing to Bali. This multi-day adventure takes you from the lush surroundings of Tumpak Sewu Waterfall to the volcanic landscapes of Mount Bromo and Ijen, creating a journey through a changing side of Java that many travellers never experience in one trip.
Your journey begins in Yogyakarta, with the transfer to East Java arranged by train, van, or car depending on the group size and operational conditions. Continue towards Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, where towering cliffs, lush vegetation, and cascading water create one of East Java’s most impressive natural scenes. Take time to enjoy the landscape before continuing to your accommodation.
The next chapter begins early at Mount Bromo. Travel by 4x4 jeep into the volcanic landscape and watch the sunrise as the first light spreads across the surrounding mountains and Sea of Sand. Continue exploring the Bromo area and experience the dramatic scenery created by the volcano before travelling onward towards Ijen.
At Ijen, continue the journey into the volcanic landscape during the night or early morning. When conditions and access allow, witness the famous blue fire phenomenon before exploring the area around the crater and taking in the striking scenery of one of Java’s most remarkable volcanic regions.
After completing the Ijen experience, continue east towards Bali. The journey ends with a drop-off at Pemuteran, Central Ubud, Central Canggu, Central Kuta or Central Uluwatu in Bali, giving you a natural transition from exploring Java to continuing your Indonesian adventure.
