Today this city is considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This city was occupied from 200 AD. And it is believed that it was by Mayans from the great City of Tikal. The construction of its acropolis began around the year 550 AD. Years later, Quirigua was subordinated to the City of Copan for control of trade routes. The magnificent architecture and its breathtaking monuments represent their greatest leaders. The most incredible thing is that they were made without the use of metal tools.
