Begin your journey at Phat Quang Pagoda, a spiritual destination nestled in the peaceful scenery of Du Nhan village. Visit the Tam Bao area, located at the centre of Phat Quang Temple. Marvel at the ancient structure with its graceful curved roofs, sturdy wooden columns, and open space filled with wind and light. See the Buddha statue sitting on a lotus pedestal, surrounded by calligraphy handwritten by Venerable Thich Thien An, each stroke containing a profound Zen philosophy.
Next, head to Van Phuc Silk Village, a place with a history of over 1,000 years. Discover ancient houses, old banyan trees, water wharfs, communal yards, and markets. Start with a pickup from Hanoi’s Old Quarter and head to Chuong, a village that has been well-known for the craft of conical hat-making for over 300 years. Get an observe how conical hats are made and decorate a hat by painting it then bring it home as a souvenir.
Depart for the Quang Phu Cau village, which has been producing incense for more than 100 years. Take a walk to the centre of the village and see how locals make incense on the artisanal, family scale. Meet a family who specialises in dyeing incense sticks and take in the colourful bundles of incense.
