Begin your day with a pickup from your hotel in Hanoi and head to Duong Lam Ancient Village, a 1.5-hour drive away. Known as an agricultural haven with a history spanning 1,200 years, this village offers a serene contrast to the bustling streets of Hanoi.

Upon arrival, take a leisurely walk along the peaceful ancient road leading to the village. Visit Mong Phu Commune House, constructed in the mid-16th century, and explore narrow alleys to discover the time-honored laterite traditional houses and brick pathways that define this enchanting village.

Next, head to Mia Pagoda, nestled in another hamlet of Duong Lam. While its exact construction date remains a mystery, Mia Pagoda is a focal point of indigenous cultural currents, weaving together Buddhism, Brahmanism, and Chinese influences.

Visit the temples of King Ngo Quyen and King Phung Hung, dedicated to two national heroes. Then, pass through schools and local workshops as you make your way back to the village.

Depart for the Quang Phu Cau village, which has been producing incense for more than 100 years. Take a walk to the centre of the village and see how locals make incense on the artisanal, family scale. Meet a family who specialises in dyeing incense sticks.
