Enjoy a relaxing pottery experience in Harajuku, Tokyo, and create your own unique ceramic piece by hand. Using traditional hand-building techniques, you will craft a traditional Japanese sake cup or matcha bowl.
Your creation will be inspired by Mingei (folk crafts), which are historically crafted for everyday use in San'in region (Tottori and Shimane). Before you begin shaping the clay, you will have the chance to hold actual Mingei pieces to feel their weight, thickness, and glaze textures, helping you envision your own design.
No experience is needed, as your instructor will guide you step by step. Take a break from your busy day and enjoy the calming process of working with clay.
After creating your 1–2 pottery pieces and choosing your glaze, your instructor will share fascinating insights into the background of Japanese pottery regions. We will introduce you to recommended spots in Japan, especially in San'in, and San'in guide services can also be arranged upon request.
Additionally, beautiful ceramic pieces displayed in our studio are available for purchase on the spot.
Your finished work will be ready in 4–6 weeks after firing. You can pick it up at the studio for free, or have it shipped internationally or domestically to your home for an additional fee.
