Embark on a breathtaking journey through one of the most extraordinary landscapes in Switzerland on the Gryden circular trail. Tucked away on the Betelberg, this 7.5 km high-altitude hike offers a fascinating mix of crater-like rock formations, panoramic views, and tranquil natural beauty. The trail starts at the Leiterli mountain station and promises a rewarding adventure for hikers of all fitness levels.

Start with a view of the Hasler Hochmoor, a protected, quiet, alpine wetland that will put you in the right mood for the rest of the trail. As you follow the path towards Stübleni, the landscape transforms into the crater-like rock formations of the Gryden. This surreal terrain is unique in Switzerland and offers a varied and unforgettable hiking experience.

The highlight of the hike is the ascent to the highest point at 2,109 metres above sea level. Here you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Saanenland, a perfect place to take a break and enjoy the beauty of the Swiss Alps. The circular route leads back to the starting point, from where you will return to the valley with all the impressions.

Note: Due to the new construction of the “Bergrestaurant Leiterli,” there will be a construction site at the mountain station of the gondola lift on the Betelberg in the summer of 2026. Drinks and food can be purchased right next door at the new “Alpenimbiss Leiterli.” The Alpine playground on the Leiterli will remain closed during the construction phase. All hiking trails are accessible and the mountain railway is operating as usual.
