What you can expect

Meet your guide at Kintetsu Nara Station and begin with Kōfuku-ji Temple, one of Nara’s most important historic temples. Learn about its history and its role in Japan’s first capital.

Next, head to Nara Park to meet the sacred deer. Your guide will provide deer crackers and share local legends explaining why these animals are considered messengers of the gods.

Continue to Tōdai-ji Temple to admire the awe-inspiring Great Buddha inside one of the world’s largest wooden buildings. Take a moment to enjoy the calm atmosphere as incense gently fills the hall.

Then, follow your guide on a peaceful walk along Kasuga Taisha’s lantern-lined forest paths, learning about Shinto beliefs and the shrine’s deep connection to nature.

In Naramachi Old Town, enjoy a traditional mochi experience at a local shop. Learn about the mochi-making process and its cultural significance in Japanese life, from New Year celebrations to seasonal festivals. You’ll also taste freshly prepared mochi, soft and chewy, lightly flavoured with seasonal ingredients.

The tour concludes in Naramachi’s preserved merchant district, where your guide will share recommendations for cosy cafés and local eateries to enjoy after the tour.
