Discover Chinese food from market to table through local ingredients, regional flavours and hands-on cooking. Begin at a Beijing food market, where your host introduces vegetables, seasonings and other ingredients used in Chinese kitchens before heading to the cooking venue. Choose your own 3 dishes from 9 options inspired by different regions of China. Led by a former executive chef at a five-star hotel, you will learn practical techniques such as sauce preparation, heat control, frying and steaming. Some time-consuming preparation is done in advance, while the chef demonstrates the complete process and you take part in the key cooking steps. Please send your dish choices at least 2 days before the class so ingredients can be prepared for each guest. If we do not receive your selections, a balanced combination will be chosen for you. After cooking, sit down together and enjoy the dishes you have prepared with steamed Wuchang rice. You will also receive detailed recipes to recreate them at home. This relaxed, hands-on experience combines local food culture with practical skills you can take home.
