What you can expect

Spend a day on the pristine waters just off Ponta Delgada watching for majestic ocean life during a peaceful whale-watching cruise. Your experience is hosted by a certified marine biologist who opens your eyes to these enormous creatures' behaviours.

Make your way to the Futurismo Activity Centre, meet your friendly guide, and board a comfortable whale-watching vessel. Drift peacefully out to sea and enjoy light refreshments as you admire Portugal's beautiful southern coast off in the distance.

Once you arrive at the whale-watching spot, follow along as your guide points you in directions where you catch glimpses of various species of whales, including sperm, fin, and blue. Watch for these magnificent animals breaching and slapping their gigantic tails on the surface.

Your journey may also let you see bottlenose and spotted dolphins swimming jubilantly outside your boat. If you wish, complement your excursion with a visit to the incredible Islet of Vila Franca do Campo, which was formed by the crater of an old underwater volcano. Choose this option and enjoy views of this natural wonder and lunch before making your way back to the port.
