Head out from Zagreb centre towards Klanjec city, immersed in noble history. Enter a church from the 17th century, built by the noble Erdody family as a family mausoleum. In the basement of the convent, see two sarcophagi made for the burial of the Habsburg royal family. Continue to Kumrovec, an open-air museum with restored houses from the beginning of the 20th century, and the birthplace of Josip Broz Tito, the famous Yugoslav president.
Move on to the preserved castle Veliki Tabor. Hear one of the most beautiful Croatian love stories, the legend of Veronika. After a lunch break with traditional Zagorje food, continue to Krapina city to see the Evolution Museum and Neanderthal findings. Discover history from the Big Bang to the construction of the museum.
Finally, visit the fairytale Trakošćan castle. Discover this recently restored medieval fortress, with original furniture and fittings. Stroll around the grounds before returning to Zagreb.
