Built to supply water to Lisbon, the aqueduct is composed of an extensive network of arches and tunnels. Hear about its fascinating history, including how it survived the 1755 earthquake that devastated the city. At the Alcântara Valley, you’ll be able to walk across the 900-meter-long aqueduct, standing at an incredible 80 metres above the valley floor, offering panoramic views of the surroundings. 2. Belém District: head to the historic Belém district, an area rich with Lisbon’s maritime heritage. Belém is home to some of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks, and you’ll have time to explore these from the outside, learning the fascinating history behind each one. Belém Tower; Padrão dos Descobrimentos; Jerónimos Monastery. You’ll also get to savour a Pastel de Belém, a world-famous custard tart, at its birthplace. 3. Crossing April 25th Bridge, one of the most iconic landmarks in Lisbon. This suspension bridge, often compared to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, spans the Tagus River and connects Lisbon with the southern bank. As you drive across, you’ll get a closer look at the bridge’s impressive structure and learn about its significance in the history of Lisbon and Portugal. 4. After crossing the bridge, you’ll head to the south bank of the Tagus River for a lunch break at one of Lisbon’s iconic restaurants, where you’ll enjoy delicious Portuguese cuisine while soaking in panoramic views over the river and the city. 5. Sanctuary of Christ the King: Following lunch, you’ll head to the Sanctuary of Christ the King a monumental statue inspired by Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro.
