What you can expect

  • This city belonged to the Archbishopric of Mainz for more than 800 years and suffered most during the Thirty Years' War, having been held in turn by the various belligerents. During the Cold War, this town was the location of several United States Army installations. Discover history from prehistory to the Middle Ages and learn about changes in modern times through the 19th century. Admire the main sights of the Schloss Johannisburg, which contains a library of a collection of engravings and paintings, and the St. Peter und Alexander collegiate church, which was built in the second half of the 10th century and preserved various monuments by the Vischers.
