Step into the world of the samurai in Tokyo with professional instructors by your side—action actors. Beginners are more than welcome. The instructors are professional action actors, and during the lesson, you will not engage in actual sword fighting. Instead, you will learn the movements of the samurai safely using practice swords.
You can choose between a private class and a group class.
In the private class, you will first receive a brief introduction to the history and culture of the samurai. Before the hands-on practice, we watch selected anime scenes to observe and discuss authentic samurai manners and movements. You’ll then disassemble a real katana (training sword) to learn about its structure and the purpose of each part — an essential step to truly understand the spirit of the samurai. Afterwards, a professional action actor will guide you through tailored practice based on your skill level and personal goals.
At the end of the private session, each participant will be recorded on video as a keepsake, allowing you to take home a memorable record of your experience. Private classes are perfect for those who wish to learn in depth, especially martial arts practitioners and people deeply interested in Japanese culture.
In the group class, you will join a class where aspiring Japanese actors are learning samurai action. After observing, you can practice alongside them. Learn the movements of the samurai while interacting with Japanese students.
The workshop begins with warm-up exercises, followed by mastering the fundamental movements of a samurai. You will learn essential techniques such as how to properly grip, hold, and swing a sword, gradually drawing you into the world of the samurai.
Once you have mastered the basics, you will engage in paired practice with a professional samurai, experiencing a scene straight out of an action film. You will also witness a powerful demonstration by the samurai, allowing you to truly appreciate their skills up close.
