Explore unique ritual landscapes with Foyle Trails on a tour that is guaranteed to bring you to seldom visited places that hold stories that you will never hear on Ireland's more genteel and commonplace tours. This tour is ideal for visitors that seek a unique take on Ireland's prehistory and how the landscapes and habitats that you visit became the birthplaces for Halloween.

This quirky tour commences in the small border town of Lifford in County Donegal. We initially visit a nearby ritual site to learn why many of Ireland's tree and plant species have a mysterious and dark history that stretches back to pre-Christian times.

Moving on we explore a Bronze Age Stone Circle, that is one of the largest Stone Circles in Ireland. This circle is well over 3,000 years old, a place where you will discover why its enigmatic stones and ceremonial trackway were constructed.
We then travel to a votive wetland habitat to learn why and how both Bronze Age and Celtic Era shamans made human sacrifices to the spirits of the underworld. You will also discover the fascinating storey of Ireland's many water cults and how the bodies of the “sacrificed” are occasionally discovered and how their preserved bodies have survived into the modern era.
