Our tour begins at the Palace of Justice in Brussels, where a panoramic view welcomes us as we explore how music has accompanied the evolution of the city. With evocative melodies, we'll immerse ourselves in the history of Brussels and its relationship with music.
We'll then head down to Petit Sablon Square, former site of the Palace of the Count of Egmont, near the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the birthplace of great artists and the epicentre of music education in Belgium.
The tour continues to the Musical Instruments Museum, where we'll explore sounds from around the world and discover the history of the saxophone, invented by the Belgian Adolphe Sax.
We will also revisit the importance of music in independence movements, listening to pieces that have been anthems of change and resistance. We'll hear about the influence of African music in Brussels from the famous vantage point of the Mont des Arts, now home to the city's most important art museums.
We then continue with a tribute at the Fondation Jacques Brel to the renowned Brussels artist who left his mark on the chanson genre. His music remains a symbol of deep emotional expression and Belgian identity.
We then head to the most irreverent statue, the Manneken Pis, which has inspired songs and festivals over the centuries.
Once on the Grand Place, the vibrant heart of the city, we'll discover its connection to major festivals and concerts. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has been the setting for centuries of musical events that have brought the city to life, such as the Ommegang, a festival recognised as cultural heritage by UNESCO.
The tour takes us to a symbol of Brussels' social and cultural evolution. In the past, it was a meeting place for musical events, reflecting the close relationship between music and the transformation of the city over centuries of existence.
Finally, we arrive at the birthplace of Belgian opera. In its imposing architecture, we relive excerpts from the most famous operas and wrap up the tour with an unforgettable sound experience to understand why music is freedom.
