What you can expect

  • With amazingly clear glacial water and situated between 2 continental tectonic plates, the Silfra Fissure offers one-of-a-kind scuba diving that cannot be missed. Explore an ethereal, underwater world as you make your way through one of the most unique sites in the world.

Depart from Reykjavik with your group, heading towards the UNESCO World Heritage Site - Thingvellir National Park. The Silfra Fissure lies in the heart of the park, at the rift between the North American and Eurasian continents. As soon as you're suited up, slip into the fresh waters between the plates and enter a brand-new world.

Below the water's surface is around 150m visibility thanks to the cold waters from the Langjökull glacier, which are filtered through porous underground lava for up to 100 years before seeping into Thingvellir's underground wells. Make your way between the jagged faces of 2 continents, venturing to a depth of 59 feet (18 m) to see all that Silfra has to offer before returning to Reykjavik.

    • Please note: This is a challenging dive where you need to be capable of carrying heavy equipment up to 400m.

    • Guests must be dry suit certified or have 10 logged Drysuit Dives in the last 2 years

    • Your dive guide will ask to see your dry suit certification card, or a logbook showing that you have completed a minimum of 10 previous dry suit dives (signed by a dive professional).

    • You need to have dived in a dry suit within the last 2 years to ensure that your skills are up to date and so you enjoy the dive.

*As all divers should be aware, it is strongly advised to wait 24 hours after diving to fly.
