The PPs will take you on unmissable day trips with breathtaking panoramas.
From the seaside resort of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, located near the Spanish border, explore the region by travelling along the Basque coast and inland on your outings, passing through typical villages. You'll be able to make out the Basque coast and the Pyrenees mountain range.
Come and discover the region: Bayonne, with its half-timbered houses in shades of red, green and blue, its gastronomy, its terroir and its chocolate museum; and Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, located inland, which stands out and remains the stronghold of the region. The capital of Lower Navarre is a harbour, now a marina, a bastion of history, open to pastoralism, the mountains and a welcoming land par excellence, on the Camino de Santiago.
In the Aquitaine region, south-western France is also home to Biarritz, located on the coast, with its seafront and beautiful surfing beaches, for a getaway along the coastal path.
The small village of Espelette, world-famous for the cultivation of its PDO pepper, which, since the 16th century, through a process of seed selection, farmers have developed into a unique variety of this American pepper, called “gorria” (red in Basque). This pepper is used as a spice or flavour enhancer, to preserve food or as a superior substitute for black pepper in Basque culinary traditions and on the finest tables today. Ainhoa and Sare, where the Petit train de la Rhune departs, are listed as among the most beautiful villages in France.
On the Spanish side, you will pass by the Corniche, Hondarribia, and the city of San Sebastián, known for its tapas and its aperitif “sangria,” and you will wander with the PPs.
Travelling with the PPBOURLINGUEURS will give you an insight into the many hidden activities and villages in the Basque Country.
