What you can expect
Discover the natural highlights of southern Hokkaido on this full-day tour. From the scenic beauty of Lake Toya to the volcanic wonders of Noboribetsu Hell Valley, enjoy seasonal experiences and breathtaking landscapes along the way.
Stop 1: Seasonal Highlights (Approx. 1 hour)
✨ Winter (Approx. December 1 – March 30)
◈ Lake Toya Snowmobile Experience (Optional, at your own expense) + Lake Toya Observation Deck
Enjoy an optional snowmobile adventure across Hokkaido's snowy landscape under the guidance of professional instructors. Afterwards, head to the Lake Toya Observation Deck for panoramic views of the caldera lake, Nakajima Island, and the surrounding mountains.
If the snowmobile activity cannot operate due to insufficient snowfall or adverse weather conditions, the itinerary will be adjusted to include a visit to Meisui Park instead.
✨ Non-Winter (Approx. April 1 – November 30)
◈ Mt. Yotei Kyogoku Fukidashi Park + Lake Toya Observation Deck
Visit Kyogoku Fukidashi Park, home to one of Japan's “100 Famous Waters,” where crystal-clear spring water flows from Mt. Yotei. Continue to the Lake Toya Observation Deck to take in sweeping views of the deep blue lake and the surrounding volcanic landscape.
Stop 2: Lake Hill Farm (Approx. 20 minutes)
Overlooking Lake Toya, Lake Hill Farm is a scenic countryside ranch with spectacular views of both the lake and Mt. Yotei. Treat yourself to its famous handmade Italian-style gelato, crafted from fresh local milk, or relax at the café while enjoying the peaceful rural surroundings.
Stop 3: Showa Shinzan (Approx. 1 hour, including lunch break; lunch at your own expense)
Showa Shinzan is one of Hokkaido's most famous active volcanoes and one of the youngest volcanoes in the world. Enjoy free time to explore the volcanic landscape, browse local souvenir shops, or have lunch at one of the nearby restaurants.
Stop 4: Noboribetsu Hell Valley (Approx. 40 minutes)
The symbol of Noboribetsu and the source of its renowned hot springs, Hell Valley is a dramatic volcanic crater approximately 450 metres in diameter. Steam vents, bubbling hot springs, and sulfurous fumes create an otherworldly landscape. Walk along the designated boardwalks to experience the immense geothermal power that lies beneath the surface.
⚠️ The itinerary above is for reference only. The order of visits and the duration at each stop may be adjusted depending on traffic and weather conditions.
⚠️ Notes
Please wear comfortable walking shoes.
The Hell Valley area may have a strong sulphur smell, and some pathways can be slippery.
August 8–16, 2026 is Japan's peak holiday travel season, and heavy traffic is expected. Please do not schedule dinners, flights, or Shinkansen journeys on the same day as your tour. We cannot be held responsible for missed plans caused by traffic delays. We also recommend bringing a portable power bank. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
