What you can expect

If you've already seen the Alcázar, skip the lines and check out this micro-version instead. As with other Seville mansions, such as Casa de Pilatos, Palacio de Lebrija, and Palacio de Las Dueñas, the Casa de Salinas is privately owned and is still home to a family. See 16th-century patios with stunning Mudéjar plasterwork arches and a Roman mosaic of Bacchanalian shenanigans, original ceramic tiles, and the family’s winter and summer drawing rooms with exquisitely painted wooden ceilings.

In the 16th century, Seville was the most important city in Europe. The riches of the New World arrived at its port, which were later distributed throughout the continent. They called it Nova Roma for its splendour, and it was frequented by the best Italian and Flemish artists of the moment. The best Renaissance was combined with the Gothic and the Mudejar in a harmony of styles unique in the world. In this context the House of Salinas was built.

The building is situated in the monumental Old Town of Seville, 2 steps from the cathedral, La Giralda, and Los reales Alcázares. At the beginning of the 20th century, the house became the property of the Salinas family, which subjected it to a delicate and thorough restoration to restore its original appearance, which had been partially altered throughout its 400 years of history, especially around 1900. At present, it shows off its primitive structures of the 16th century with elements typical of the time of its construction.
