At the start of the day, you'll set off with your driver/guide, heading north through Chott El Gharsa. Your first stop will be the oasis of Chebika: a marvel. With a local guide, you will spend an hour trekking through the canyons, valleys, and natural springs. The guide (a Berber from the mountains) will explain the history and traditions of the people of Chebika to you in your language. Once your tour is over, you will be transferred to Midès, where you will also be led by a local Berber guide. You will be amazed by the grandeur of this abandoned village, perfectly protected by a deep canyon and rocks filled with fossils of marine creatures from a distant geological era. Enjoy a one-hour walk through the canyon.
Lunch will be included at a family-run restaurant in Tameghza.
To round off the morning, a visit to Temegza Waterfall is a must – an impressive sight in a desert of arid rocks. You can cool off under the water.
Head further south along a track through the salt lake towards Ong Jemel. You will see a mirage on the horizon and cross white sand dunes until you spot a ghost town in the middle of nowhere. This is the village of Mos Espa for film lovers.
End the day there, admiring the reddish sun slowly setting over the dunes.
