The Hoover Dam is a short drive from the fast-paced Vegas Strip, and this tour allows you to venture into the beautiful Mojave Desert and uncover the rich history and planning behind the Hoover Dam. Built in 1935, the massive concrete dam was once the world's largest power-producing facility and now remains a world-renowned feat of engineering.
Hop aboard a comfortable air-conditioned bus for a scenic drive through the cactus-lined desert, checking out the flora and fauna of this arid landscape as you make your way towards Hoover Dam. Towering 725 feet (220 m) above the Colorado River, the dam is one of the largest concrete structures on the planet.
Next, step out for a view of the Arizona Spillway, which tunnels water from Lake Mead deep into the canyon walls through a chute wide enough to fit a WWII battleship. From atop a lookout that also happens to be the perfect viewpoint, enjoy panoramic vistas of Lake Mead and its vivid desert backdrop.
Following this, your journey will take you across the Dam into to state of Arizona. You will experience passage by the High Scaler Monument, Winged Figures of the Republic and view the Penstocks, immediate reservoir, Spillways and the stunning “art deco” architecture that graces the structure of the Dam.
Thence you will proceed to the Visitors Centre for an opportunity to visit the amazing Generator room and still have time for shopping and if preffered, dining at the cafe (at your expense).
Your tour concludes with passage back to the Las Vegas Strip for drop off at your assigned point.
Breakfast snack and unlimited supply of bottled water included with tour.
