What you can expect

Don’t be fooled by the size of Modena! The city has an interesting storey set in a picturesque atmosphere. Discover the hometown of Luciano Pavarotti and Enzo Ferrari on this stunning private walking tour.

The Modena Private Walking Tour starts from the central located square, Piazza Roma. From here you have a good view of the imposing Ducal Palace. This beauty was built by the Este family in the 17th century. Today it houses the Military Academy which prepares officers for the Italian Army.

We walk through the beautiful city centre exploring its narrow streets and admiring the Renaissance palaces. Stop at Pomposa Church, where Modena’s most important historian, Ludovico Antonio Muratori lived. Around the corner find Novi Sad Park, a recently restored open air archaeological site. Visit the interesting Ancient Roman remains with your expert guide. We will even walk on an original Roman road, surrounded by burials and houses that date back 2,000 years!

Your Private Modena Walking Tour continues through the maze of Modena’s small streets. Reach Piazza Grande with its wonderful Cathedral and the Ghirlandina Tower. The Duomo is a jewel of art and architecture, one of the best preserved medieval “books of stone”. We admire the reliefs by Guglielmo, the Apsis, the Gates and the inside of the Cathedral that invites for a peaceful atmosphere. On one side, the recently restored Ghirlandina Tower stands over the entire Po valley. The square has been for centuries the beating heart of the city, the economical, political and social centre of Modena.

A few steps from the piazza we reach Albinelli Market and Corso Canal Grande with Modena’s theatre dedicated to the famous Modenese tenor, Luciano Pavarotti.

Modena is also famous for its balsamic vinegar and if you decide to visit a vinegar factory by yourselves then your local guide will be happy to give you recommendations.

PLEASE NOTE: The max number of guests that can be processed in one booking is 8 people. If your group is larger than 8 people, please simply process another booking in the same name and write us a note you will be travelling together.
