What you can expect

  • Start your day with a pickup from Dana or a nearby location and head towards the entrance of Wadi Ghuweir, a hidden gem in the Dana Biosphere Reserve. Your local guide will lead you into the heart of the canyon, where you'll walk along a gently flowing stream that winds through towering sandstone cliffs and lush vegetation.

As you hike deeper into the wadi, the landscape transforms into a natural oasis. Water trickles through the rocks, palms and reeds grow along the path, and birds echo through the gorge. Along the way, your guide will share insights about the region’s geology, plants, and local Bedouin culture.

About halfway through the hike, you’ll stop to enjoy a traditional Jordanian lunch in a shaded spot surrounded by nature. Rest, take photos, and soak in the serenity before continuing through narrow passages and open areas that reveal more of the canyon’s beauty.

This moderate-level hike takes approximately 5–6 hours. It’s a perfect adventure for nature lovers looking to explore Jordan’s wild side, away from the crowds.
